JALLIANWALA BAGH NATIONAL MEMORIAL TRUST, AMRITSAR

Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar in the State of Punjab and houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951by the Government of India, to commemorate the massacre by British occupying forces of peaceful celebrators including unarmed women and children, on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919.

The memorial is managed by the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust.  The composition of the Trust is:-

    President, Indian National Congress
    Minister In charge of Culture
    Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha    
    Governor of the State of Punjab
    Chief Minister of the State of Punjab
    * Shri Virendra Kataria, Ex-Member of Parliament.
    * Smt. Ambika Soni, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha).
    * Shri Harvendra Singh Hanspal, Ex-Member of Parliament.
         *- Nominated as Trustees on 24th May, 2013 for a period of five years.
