International Mother Language Day
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya organized a two days long workshop. International Mother Language Day is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism, It was first announced by UNESCO.
The Sangrahalaya had started a programme ‘Learn New Languages’ to promote regional languages- dialects and to explain importance of preserving regional culture in society, family and offices. In this series today, three languages – Oriya, Marathi and Bengali was taught. Mrs P. Anuradha imparted training of Oriya and Mr. Dipak Kumar Chowdhary taught Marathi to fellow officers and employees. Everyone learnt simple communication sentences used in daily in all three languages.
