SEPA
A large size fish trap

Sepa is a large-sized fish trap made from bamboo splits (jati bah). The splits are arranged and tied to bamboo rings at regular intervals to form a bi-conical shape and to hold them in position. The middle portion of the body is projected outward by giving support to bamboo splints at the inner side. One end is closed and the other has a narrow opening to collect fish. It has two valves at the center which allows the fish to enter the trap when it is placed against the flow of water. It is used for big river, and big canal fishing by male members. It is of different sizes and shapes and is also known by different names like Dingora, Dori, etc.
