Senior/Junior Fellowships in New Areas related to Culture.

Objective

Department of Culture invites applications from nationals for the award of Senior / Junior Fellowships for undertaking projects in the following fields for the year.........

(1) Indology
(2) Epigraphy
(3) Sociology of Culture
(4) Cultural Economics
(5) Structural and Engineerings aspects of monuments
(6) Numismatics
(7) Scientific and Technical aspects of Conservation
(8) Management aspects of Art and Heritage
(9) Studies relating to application of Science and Technology in areas related to Culture and creativity

What is expected of the Research Proposals

The objective to encourage analytical application of new research techniques, technological and management principles to contemporary issues in areas related to art and culture . General and theoretical macro studies will not be considered . The proposals should be innovative and application oriented and preferably inter-disciplinary in nature. The value of Senior Fellowship is Rs. 12000/- per month and that of the Junior Fellowship is Rs. 6000/- per month. Fellowships are awarded for a maximum period of twenty-four months, which is not extendable.

Age groups:

Senior Fellowships are awarded to scholars over the age of 41. Applicants for Junior Fellowships have to be in the age bracket of 25-40. Age will be reckoned as on 1st April of Current year.

Minimum Educational Qualifications
Applicants in the above fields (except in field 5 and 7 above) should be Post Graduate in the relevant subject. For field 5 above, the applicant should be graduate in Architecture , Archaeology, Civil Engineering and related subject. In case of 7 above , applicants working on Conservation and documentation related issues in the art and culture with experience of more than 5 years may also apply.
Conditions Applicants who are employed will have to apply through proper channel. They will be required to take study leave for two years. The first installment of Fellowship will be released only on receiving proof of sanctioning of leave.

An applicant should not have availed the same Fellowship earlier. However an applicant who had been awarded a Junior Fellowship can apply for Senior Fellowship, Provided five years have elapsed after the closing of the earlier project.

The Department Reserves the right to call the short-listed Junior Fellowship candidates for interview.
How to apply? Applications in the prescribed format should be accompanied by details of studies undertaken earlier, synopsis and methodology of the proposed project and with copies of relevant testimonials and certificates.
