Festival of India in Ghana - Events

Festival of India in Ghana is being organized from January 25- March 16, 2017 to commemorate 60 years of establishment of Diplomatic Relations between India and Ghana. The Festival will be staged in four cities of Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast and Takoradi in Ghana. Following events will be showcased:

  1. 15–Member Group from Lok Chhanda Cultural Unit led by Ms Maitreyee Pahari will present five performances of Amalgamation of Indian classical dances - two in Accra on January 25 (Inaugural function) & 26, 2017 and the rest of three performances to be held in Kumasi city on January 28, 2017, in Cape Coast city on January 30, 2017 and Takoradi city on January 31, 2017.
  2. Yoga & Meditation Lecture-cum-Demonstration by Yoga expert to be deputed by High Commission will be organised in Accra & Kumasi city from February 1 to 10, 2017.
  3. 9-Member Music Group (Sufi/Folk) led by Dr. Mamta Rani alias Dr Mamta Joshi to present three performances of her Group in Accra on February 10, 11 & 12, 2017.
  4. Food Festival will be organised in Accra from February 10-16, 2017.
  5. Film Festival will be organised in Accra on February 25 & 26, 2017.
  6. 9-Member Classical Dance Group of Ms Neeru Sabharwal and led by Ms Shubhada Mahohar Vardkar will give three performances of Saptarang – confluence of seven classical dance forms culminating in Vande Matram. Two performances will be held on March 11, 2017 (Closing ceremony) and March 12, 2017 in Accra and one performance in Kumasi city on March 13, 2017.
